Cheaper than plane tickets.

Our latest limited edition candle collection is inspired by the Parisian neighbourhood of Montmartre. Never been? Picture bohemian creatives strolling cobblestone streets with café au lait in hand, corners dotted with ateliers, and the kind of in-the-know boulangeries, patisseries and glaciers that are always packed with locals. Then, there’s the Sacré-Cœur, the jewel in Montmartre’s crown. No matter which boulevarde you find yourself on, this historic basilica draws your eye upwards to the highest point in the city. In a nutshell, it’s a place where the past meets the present–and we couldn’t think of a better birthplace for our two new scents.

Sacred Heart (think: Smoky Incense and Woody Myrrh) and Montmartre Macaron (sprinkles of Wild Blueberries, Velvet Vanilla and Coconut) both come in beautiful vessels. Intended as a tribute to the artisans of the area, they’re crafted in matte white ceramic (a brand first!) and etched with intricate designs. In another considered design detail, each vessel has been lined with a glossy glaze that matches the coloured wax inside.

THE inspiration

When Glasshouse Fragrances founder Nicole Eckels first visited Montmartre – a Parisian neighbourhood best known for its charming cobbled streets, Can-Can theatres and incredible artistic legacy – she was immediately transfixed. Instantly, she knew she wanted to create a home fragrance collection that paid homage to its history as a magnet for bohemian creatives. (Among the storied artists who’ve once called Montmartre home: Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Piet Mondrian, Pablo Picasso and Vincent Van Gogh.)

After an afternoon spent exploring, Eckels consulted with our perfumers to create two fine fragrances that captured her experience: “I was completely smitten with the surroundings – the streets with artists on every corner, working in their ateliers. And of course, the scents of wafting patisseries and my climb to the summit of the famous church of the Sacré-Cœur.” The result is our beautifully crafted new limited edition collection, lovingly titled A Day In Montmartre.

Because Eckels wanted to create something that was “a work of art in itself” our iconic glass vessels have been reimagined in matte white ceramic, etched with intricate designs. “The lining of each vessel is done with a richly pigmented, glossy glaze that matches the shade of the coloured wax inside,” says Eckels. Perfect for repurposing (for ideas on how to reuse your candle vessels, click here), you won’t want to take them off display.
