Radiance in Bloom is a celebration of softness, strength and the many forms motherhood can take.
To bring this vision to life, Glasshouse Fragrances collaborated with Sydney-based artist Sally Ann, whose work is deeply rooted in nostalgia, human connection and sensory storytelling.
We sat down with Sally to explore her inspiration, creative process and the meaning behind the artwork.
About the Artist
Sally Ann is an Indonesian-Australian collage artist and illustrator based in Sydney.
Her work is shaped by personal archives, memory and human stories - creating pieces that feel both nostalgic and deeply contemporary.
What does Radiance in Bloom mean to you?
It’s a quiet ode to the people who nurture us and give us the space to bloom in our own way.
What drew you to collaborating on a Mother’s Day collection, and what did the theme of motherhood mean to you personally as an artist?
Scent has always been a big trigger for me creatively. I’m also a long-time Glasshouse candle hoarder, so this collaboration felt very natural. Motherhood to me is a kind of quiet resilience, qualities that feel very creative in themselves.
In one sentence, what does this artwork say about motherhood?
Motherhood is less a title and more a feeling.
How do you hope someone feels when they receive this collection before they even experience the fragrance?
I hope they feel a sense of nostalgia and softness straight away. I always want my work to feel tactile, like you could almost touch it.
Can you describe the story behind the artwork and the symbols or motifs you chose to include?
It’s an ode to the mother figures in our lives. My own mom is a huge part of mine, and orchids are her favourite flower! Naturally they became the heart of the piece.
What aspects of motherhood did you want to celebrate or reinterpret through your design?
Motherhood isn’t always literal, it’s an act of care that can exist beyond biology, gender or traditional labels.
How did you balance softness and strength in the artwork? (Two qualities often associated with mothers)
Through contrast. The softness of the flowers sits alongside stark black and white elements, gentleness and strength often coexist.
Has your relationship with creativity been shaped by a mother figure in your life?
Absolutely. My mom raised me as a single parent and always encouraged me to follow my passions. This one's for her :)
Did creating this artwork prompt you to reflect on your own experiences of being nurtured, supported, or inspired?
Yes, it made me reflect on the many forms motherhood can take, and all the people who 'mother' us in ways big and small.
If you could dedicate this artwork to one person, who would it be and why?
My mama, she’s the blueprint. I can't wait to give her this set for Mother's Day.
How did working within the world of scent influence your creative process, if at all?
Very much. I’m a sensory person, so having the candle’s tuberose and orchid notes with me as I worked helped shape the composition. And those elements naturally found their way into the final piece.
Radiance in Bloom is more than a fragrance, it’s a story of care, connection and the people who shape us.
A reminder that motherhood, in all its forms, is something to be felt.
